FV Rooster

Rooster Fishing Charters has been in operation since 2002. We run our boat out of Old Harbor on Block Island.



Hull

Rooster is a 43 Hatteras Express fishing machine. She was built for comfort and speed in order to get you to the fishing ground in a timely manner.



Tech

We have top of the line Radar, GPS, fish finder, VHF and other standard USGH safety equipment. She is Coast Guard documented for 6 pack charters.



She cruises at 23 knots and has a top speed of 30 knots.



Comfort

What is the best way to book a Trip?

Calling or texting at 401-439-5386 is the best method of contact. We also ask that you touch base the morning before your trip to confirm guests and weather conditions.

What if the weather is not favorable?

We like to be in contact the day before your trip to touch base on the weather. If the weather is unsafe for fishing, we will work with you to reschedule your trip.

What do I need to bring?

We recommend bringing snacks and a cooler with drinks, sunscreen and a SMILE. All bait and tackle are provided for you. For Fall and Spring trips, we recommend that you dress in layers as the temperature can vary throughout your trip.

Are kids welcome to join in on the fun?

Yes! If you are planning to bring along kids, please let us know when you book the trip so that we can better accommodate your needs to ensure everyone has a fantastic trip.

Are we guaranteed to catch fish?

It is uncommon to go an entire trip without catching one of Block Island’s most common fish species. In accordance with the State of RI, each fish has a size limit that has to be met in order to be able to consider them keepers.

What is the appropriate tip for the Mate?

The Mate works hard to ensure you and your guests no only enjoy some great fishing, but also learn a little something about BI and the local fish population. For their hard work, a 20% gratuity is appreciated.

Captain Eric resides year-round on Block Island. He has a 100 ton US Coast Guard Master Captain’s License and graduated from The International Yacht Restoration Marine Systems School (IYRS). He has been featured on several sport-fishing TV shows and magazines including On the Water magazine and Salt Water Sportsman.

Captain Eric has been chartering Block Island’s waters since 2002. He is the owner and operator of Rooster, one of Block Island’s largest charter boats. He began charter fishing with the original Rooster in 2002, a vessel he restored from top to bottom while attending IYRS in 2009. In 2016, he upgraded to a new vessel, a 43 Hatteras Express. This provides enough comfortable seating for everyone.

Captain Eric and crew specialize in providing action packed trips to everyone from the beginner to the seasoned expert. They fish for everything from Striped Bass to Bluefish to the delicious Black Sea Bass to Fluke and more. Captain Eric supplies all of the bait and tackle, as well as cold waters and seltzers. You and your group are welcome to bring snacks and drinks for the trip.
